The CFL slapped fines on six players for hits delivered in Week 12, including Winnipeg Blue Bombers safety Brandon Alexander. The 30-year-old, who’s racked up 45 tackles this season, got fined for a high hit on Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Kiondre Smith. His teammate, linebacker Tanner Cadwallader, was also hit with a fine for a blindside block on long snapper Gordon Whyte in the same game. Hamilton fullback James Tuck wasn’t spared either, getting fined for a late, unnecessary hit on Winnipeg returner Lucky Whitehead. The league’s not messing around with these kinds of plays.
