The Halifax Wanderers have signed 22-year-old Sean Rea from Montreal, who impressed during the 2022 season with Valour FC. Rea earned the league’s Best U-21 Canadian Player of the Year award and ranked 4th in Player of the Year voting after scoring 5 goals and setting the league’s single-season assist record with 9 assists. Sporting Director Matt Fegan praised Rea, saying, “He had a fantastic time when he was with Valour before, and I think he’s a player who’s hungry to play and bring his skill set back onto the field as well after the past year. He’s also somebody who I think we’re sort of missing, a bit of dynamic dribbling in the attack.” Rea is excited about the move, noting, “The pitch is one of the only grass fields in the CPL, I had a chance to speak to the coach and he’s great, and there are a few guys on the Wanderers from Montréal who are good friends of mine.” Myself and Wanderers fans hope he can turn this season around and start climbing the table, as the team is currently sitting in last place. Rea seems to be a great fit for the Wanderers, bringing both talent and enthusiasm to the team.
